Navigating scary things together
As a counselor, my goal is to provide a warm, caring space in which you as the client feel like you are in control. My primary focus is a trauma-informed framework, utilizing a variety of evidence-based practices. EMDR is my favorite approach, whether we engage in all 8 phases or simply explore experiences through the lens of trauma and adaptive processing. I believe in the power of knowledge, particularly in how our mind and body work together to adapt to stress and trauma. With understanding, we can fully lean into the strategies for self-soothing that make hard emotional work bearable.
I have 9 years of experience providing mental health care to individuals across the lifespan. I started my journey as a therapist to children and families in an intensive outpatient program in Washington state, called Wraparound with Intensive Services (WISe), and eventually shifted my focus to adults, and to primarily treating trauma. I began my training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) at the end of 2018 and have increasingly shifted to this framework as time goes on. I’m also trained in Flash, have had training in Internal Family Systems (not certified), and in trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy.
I hold a master’s degree in Clinical and Health Psychology from Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest, Hungary. This degree has been evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) and found to be equivalent to a degree in psychology in the United States. Major coursework I completed covers clinical and health psychology perspectives on the connection between somatic and psychological experiences, and the impact of stress and trauma.
